A perfect host/hostess gift ..

you eat their food, empty their booze cupboards and keep their neighbours up. Turn up with a great gift and chances are you'll be back before you know it.

More than likely its a dinner party you'll be invited to  - It goes without saying that you take a bottle of wine but how about letting your generous friend know that you love not having to cook and clean yourself!!  I would also turn up with coloured Jean Dubost Laguiole cheese knife ( available at both our stores) and a yummy ripe blue cheese and crunchy ripe red apples all in a brown paper bag for the host to enjoy the following day after they have dealt with the aftermath and sore head. Understated, delicious, thoughtful and definitely impeccable.

oh and choose a bottle of wine that had a fun label. We found this one on the weekend - I always choose bottles by the label - easy to remember if its really good..this wasn't too bad at all!

The best gift I have ever given is

an Ocecat called Rocky. He was given to my husband to cheer him up during a particularly stressful time at work and to keep him company when I was working weekends. I should explain I am not a "cat person" so this was a particularly selfless gift as I have been hinting for a dog for years! This feline however surprised me as not only does my husband adore him I too have fallen for his charms. Contrary to popular belief cats are able to be whistled like dogs, ours loves water and having his belly scratched and is incredibly social. So social in fact he has been known to follow us on a night out to our local restaurant with friends!
Rocky is buddhist ( he was rescued by monks after being dumped) and was "purchased" from our local vet. If you want a great gift that certainly keeps giving and loves you as much as you love it maybe you should enquire at your local vet or animal shelter...
